DESCRIPTION:
In Aerial Silks, we use long, graceful fabrics to climb, wrap, dance and play! Our Kids Intro series is designed for beginners, age 8-15. Absolutely no experience necessary. Aerial silks training builds strength, flexibility, and creativity! Students will be introduced to the art of aerial silks in a fun, supportive environment with a focus on safety. This course covers the basics of aerial silks, including different ways to be supported on the fabric, how to go upside down, how to climb, and plenty of aerial tricks! Every aerial skill is learned from the ground first and only taken to the air when the student is ready. LEVEL PROGRESSION: Everyone progresses at different rates, and that’s okay! Once the intro series has been completed, the instructor will recommend one of two options: the student repeats the series to keep building their strength and foundational skills or the student moves on to the next level. The instructor is looking for students to have mastered the basics with control (e.g. tying footlocks with ease, the ability to do 2 to 3 climbs and descend back to the ground with control, making progress with hip keys, etc). Students cannot move on to the next level without instructor permission. BOOKING: Select the Book button below for pricing and registration for the 6-week series. Be sure to read the absence policy below. If you missed your chance to register for the current series, keep checking back here for when the next series is posted!
IMPORTANT INFO!
CANCELLATION & ABSENCE POLICY: Once the series has been purchased, we cannot offer refunds except in extreme circumstances. The series is purchased as a whole, so refunds cannot be given for missed classes. If a class is missed, a makeup may be scheduled *within the same week* during another concurrently-offered kids series - but only if there is space available and it's pre-approved by the instructor. Missed classes can only be made up within the same week due to the pacing of the series. Missed material can also be made up in a private lesson - please refer to the Pricing tab for Private Lesson pricing. SAFETY & STUDENT BEHAVIOR: Safety is our top priority. The aerial arts are an inherently risky activity. Therefore it is extremely important that students listen and adhere to all directions. If a student’s behavior is deemed unsafe (i.e. not following directions, trying to teach themselves a skill they saw on social media), they may be asked to sit out for a portion of class. WHAT TO WEAR: Students should wear fitted clothing that covers their legs and midriff. We recommend a unitard, leotard & tights, or leggings with a t-shirt (that can be tucked in). No shorts please. Most students prefer at least a short sleeve so their armpits are protected as well. Appropriate clothing can prevent painful fabric burns and wardrobe malfunctions. We want students to be comfortable & safe! LATE POLICY: If a student is more than 10 minutes late and misses the warm up, they will not be allowed to participate in class. Safety begins with our warmup. We want the muscles to be warmed up and ready to minimize the chance of injury. Late students may watch class and take note of what is being taught.
