Beat Transitions&Applications Workshop 3
Intermediate/Advanced Silks/Rope experience required (Age 16+)
DESCRIPTION:
This hour and 45-minute workshop is the third in a 3-part series exploring foundational beat pathways. This workshop will meet students where they are after completing the Advancing Beat Pathways workshop on 9/20 and/or regular practice of the foundational beats from that workshop (flares, straddle beats, scissor beats). We will explore entries and exist from basic positions such as hip key, catchers (open wrap), s-wrap and front balance. This approach will include ways to identify the fundamental beat pathways in each transition and how to break down these skills to train in your body. You'll get plenty of notes to take with you to reference during your own training time. PREREQUISITES: This 3-workshop series is designed for vertical apparatuses (silks and rope) at an intermediate to advanced level. Students should have completed the Fundamental Beat Pathways Workshop on 8/23, Advancing Beat Pathways Workshop on 9/20, and/or have regular practice with flares, straddle beats, and scissor beats. Students should have the ability to invert repeatedly in the air (no tagging) and a solid two-hand straight arm hang for 45 seconds. Familiarity with catchers (open wrap), s-wrap and front balance is also recommended. WORKSHOP PRICING: Single workshops are $70, or register for all three workshops in the series for $60 each! ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR, LISA MARKER: Hello! I am a nerdy lover of rope who enjoys breaking down skills and doing what feels good in my body. I first saw aerial arts in 2013 at the Cary Spring Days festival and instantly fell in love after my first lesson on the silks. In 2021, I got my first rope and have since been fascinated with rolling and momentum skills. I have trained under PJ Perry (wonderful Patreon), Dr. Jess Allen through her Flourish one-on-one intensive programs, Gabby B Aerila (another lovely Patreon) and Alex Allen through intensive and online courses. I teach from a 'nerdy' perspective so there will be lots of notes and 'checkpoints,' with a focus on safe progressions - speaking as someone who started dynamic work in their 40s!
