Graham Arts Around the Square

ABOUT THE GRAHAM ARTS AROUND THE SQUARE FESTIVAL:

Upside Aerial students and instructors will be performing for the City of Graham's cherished signature event, Arts Around the Square, celebrating local artists! The festival will be held on Saturday May 17th, and features artisan and craft vendors, live art demonstrations, four stages of music and performing arts, engaging activities for kids, and participation from community partners. Event entry is FREE but  bring spending money for shopping at the arts & crafts fair and food vendors. 

PARKING & LOCATION:

Plan extra time for parking due to this event's size. Our free-standing aerial rig will be set up on the street that makes a circle around the Alamance County Courthouse (Court Square). We will be receiving more details on parking information soon, so be sure to RSVP below to get the latest parking info updates.

FOR UPSIDE AERIAL STUDENTS & PERFORMERS:

This weekend will be a BUSY circus weekend since Constance Echo Palmer will also be offering workshops at our studio May 16th - 18th! We hope you can participate in both! RSVP below to let us know when you can join us and to receive all event updates. We love providing opportunities for our students to perform in front of live audiences and to connect with each other outside the studio. Since the festival is the weekend after our Spring Showcases, you can either perform your showcase piece, or just come prepared with a sequence you feel comfortable with on the apparatus(es) you train regularly at Upside. For safety reasons, please only RSVP to perform if you have prior performance experience (we recommend at least 2 prior showcases). If you'd rather not perform, please come and cheer on your fellow Upsiders or help us with setup/breakdown! Aerial rig setup will be 8am to 9:30am, performances at 10am to 4pm, and aerial rig breakdown 4pm to 5pm. Michelle Spurlock with be the event lead for this event.

Please wear either your Upside Aerial apparel or family-friendly, apparatus-friendly costumes! Festival-goers love when we dress up in our circus costumes: we recommend bright colors and face glitter and gemstones (applied with lash glue or spirit gum). Just remember to avoid sharp, poky accessories that may get caught on your aerial apparatus. Let us know on the RSVP form if you have any questions...hope you can join us!
