About the Event
Upside Aerial students and instructors will be performing for the 35th Annual Burlington Carousel Festival, the City of Burlington's LARGEST event! This FREE 2-day festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 2nd and 3rd, and features live music at multiple stages, a huge arts & crafts fair, food vendors, and amusement park rides. Learn more and get festival updates from the City of Burlington's Facebook Carousel Festival page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1201991711367049
UPSIDE AERIAL SCHEDULE:
Fri May 1st - 5pm to 7pm: Aerial Rig Setup
Sat May 2nd - 10am to 6pm: Upside Aerial performances
Sun May 3rd - 12pm to 5pm: Upside Aerial performances
Sun May 5th - 5pm to 6pm: Aerial Rig Breakdown
PARKING & LOCATION:
Plan extra time for parking due to this event's size. Our free-standing aerial rig will be set up under the old carousel shelter pictured here. Hooray for shade! The public parking lot closest to the aerial rig location is the Thataways Youth Center at 1331 Overbrook Rd. If that lot is full and you can't find other parking, there will be a Park & Ride option via Link Transit: park in City Lot #8 in Downtown Burlington (700 S Spring St.) and hop on the bus directly to the Festival. Buses will depart the lot each hour, on the hour.
FOR UPSIDE AERIAL STUDENTS & PERFORMERS:
We work hard to provide opportunities for our students to perform for live audiences and connect with each other outside the studio. We encourage ALL Upsiders to attend this festival and cheer on our performers! To perform for this event, you should be Foundations Level or higher and attend our classes regularly (e.g. 4 or more classes per month). Aerial safety and preparedness are always our top priority.
Performers are highly encouraged to choreograph an act to a family-friendy song of their choice. Eye-catching costumes and makeup are also encouraged! In addition to (or instead of) a choreographed act, performers can prepare 1 or 2 sequences they can repeat safely and comfortably. Due to the length of this event, performers will sign up for time blocks (2 to 2.5 hours each) and are expected to be present and ready to perform at any time during their block(s). Performers will not asked to be perform their act multiple times during their block unless they want to and have the stamina to do so safely! Feel free to sign up for multiple time blocks if you can!
If you are interested in performing for this event, RSVP below and we'll send you more details soon! If you are not performing, RSVP to let us know you're coming or if you can help us with setup and breakdown. If you can attend both on May 2nd and May 3rd, please RSVP for both days!
