DESCRIPTION:
Have you wondered how sports nutrition differs from the generic nutrition advice you see all the time? Have you wondered if nutrition for acrobats would differ from, say, the recommendations for a runner? Have you ever felt uncertain of what and when you should eat before or after training, or even worse...before a performance? Juli Bierwirth (Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist) is a registered dietitian who specializes in sports nutrition for circus artists. She completed her masters degree and RD credential at Johns Hopkins University and has taught and practiced nutrition at studios along the southeast US. She specializes in explaining the science and logic behind how our bodies absorb and use nutrients, both at rest and during exercise. This class will teach the fundamentals of sports nutrition and how acrobats differ along the spectrum of athletes. Participants will be taught how to calculate their own nutritional needs and how to make an individualized plan for eating that supports their athletic and performance goals. Open to teens and adults. This 4-hour workshop will be split into 2 hour classes that take place over two days: Thursday August 17th 7:15-9:15 PM AND Thursday August 24th 7:15-9:15 PM
