Momentum on Sling: Beats and Spins
Workshop with Constance Echo Palmer May 2025
DESCRIPTION:
This 2-hour workshop is part of our May workshop series with veteran circus artist, performer, and coach, Constance Echo Palmer! Note that any workshop that doesn't fit your schedule can be requested as a private/semiprivate lesson. Details about this, Connie, and a full list of all her workshop offerings are under the Events tab. This workshop will be taught on sling, but if you are also interested in using beats, momentum or spinning on silks, trapeze, or lyra, this workshop is for you! Aerial sling is one of the most fun apparatuses to flow on, and doing so with tempo adds a new level of excitement to the craft. In this workshop, you will learn to spin from the ground as well as from the air in a variety of styles and positions. We will also use momentum for fundamental skills such as mounting and climbing over hox (knee hooks) into hip key. We will also be learning a variety of different beats from a shoulder hang that can be used to transition into inversions or pathways such as elbow circles; however they are also the foundation you will need to have killer beats on other aerial apparatuses. Prerequisites: Must have previous aerial experience. Must be able to tuck under or pull over to mount a very high sling (very high sling=able to do a shoulder hang without your feet touching the mat). Must also be comfortable in a knee hang on the sling and a double crochet. If you train on trapeze, lyra, or silks, you must be able to tuck under or pullover to mount the bar or knot at head height and must be comfortable in a knee hang on the bar or knot and double crochet on silks, trapeze ropes or lyra spanset.
